Bring them to a hazardous waste dump. I have one where I had to take a bunch of dead CFL bulbs when I first moved into my house

I would recommend holding onto them instead of discarding them! You can get them recelled at a battery store where they can properly dispose of them. I guess with the aftermarket batteries currently available it isn't necessary but we don't know how long those may be available for.

Ee I feel unsafe having these batteries lying around nicd goo is toxic stuff. Would I have to put them in some container that doesnt have anything else in it

I have a lot of battery places closest that only do car stuff, though there is one place thats 6 miles away which can do battery recells I think (edited)
